Sainsbury’s is pleased to announce it is working with Frontier Estates to redevelop the former Dolphin Splashdown site and create a new foodstore there. This would replace our existing nearby Sainsbury's Local, bringing additional jobs and new investment to the area.
In 2011, Frontier Estates conducted a full public consultation and received a lot of supportive and helpful feedback from local residents and stakeholders. They used that feedback to further develop and update their proposals. You can see Frontier Estates' website by clicking here.
Since the proposals have been submitted to Milton Keynes Council, Sainsbury's has joined Frontier as a development partner. You can give your support at our 'Show Your Support' page.
Why does Sainsbury's want to move?
We have been delighted with the success of our existing Sainsbury's Local since it opened and would like to offer local residents a greater selection of your favourite grocery ranges. We have therefore reached an agreement with Frontier Estates, following the submission of their planning application, to occupy the proposed supermarket should planning permission be granted.
We would ensure a seamless changeover from our existing store to the new Sainsbury's. This would include transferring staff and would also increase our job numbers at Shenley Church End from around 30 to around 140. We would also encourage our customers to use the local centre, helping to boost its trade.
